North Toronto Surgical offers PRP therapy for both hair restoration and skin rejuvenation, harnessing the body's natural repair processes to stimulate the regeneration of hair and skin cells.

After 3-6 treatments, most patients will see a significant increase in hair thickness and density, improvement in skin texture, appearance of fine lines and brightening of skin.

After your consultation and full medical history, a small amount of your blood is drawn, usually from the arm. The blood is then processed in our on-site centrifuge machine, which separates the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from other components of the blood. The concentrated PRP, which contains a higher-than-normal concentration of growth factors, is extracted. When injected into the scalp, these growth factors are believed to stimulate and enhance the activity of hair follicles.

The prepared PRP is injected directly into the scalp, specifically in the areas where there is hair thinning or loss. This is done through a series of small injections across the affected region. You will need at least 3-6 treatments to see results.

PRP has been used for many years in the cosmetic industry. However, 2018 marked the first time a randomized controlled trial was conducted to assess its efficacy in skin rejuvenation. In the study, by Alam et al., participants received PRP and saline injections on each cheek, with the PRP-treated cheek showing significant improvements in skin texture and wrinkles at the six-month follow-up. Elnehrawy et al. found that a single PRP injection produced favorable outcomes, particularly in nasolabial folds, crow's feet, and transverse forehead lines, with noticeable improvements observed within four weeks and the greatest progress seen in the eighth week.
